Lake Wappapello State Park
Lake Wappapello State Park offers a variety of recreation opportunities ranging from an exciting day on Lake Wappapello to a quiet stroll through the Ozark forest. Cast your line in hopes of reducing the excellent population of white bass, crappie and bluegill, as well as largemouth bass and catfish. Enjoy swimming, boating and waterskiing. The park features a swimming beach, paved boat ramps, miles of trails, two picnic areas and two campgrounds.
Mingo National Wildlife Refuge
Located in the upper end of the lower Mississippi River valley, Mingo National Wildlife Refuge, at 21,676 acres, is the largest remnant of an original 2.5 million acres in the Missouri boot heel. The refuge is a major wintering area for migratory waterfowl. Bald eagles have been successively nesting on the refuge since 1985.
Rafter K Rodeo
Rafter K Rodeo is located east of Puxico and is open April through October. It is owned by Louis and Tonya Keena. They feature youth rodeos, open rodeos, barrel racing, and chuck wagon races.

Nicole and Marty Sifford are the owners of Indian Hills Winery, which is a short drive from the cottage.
